Elective course: HIS 435
Britain is in the middle of its biggest crisis for a generation, indeed probably its biggest crisis since the Second World War. The History Department is offering an elective course, HIS435 Modern Britain, in which we will (this semester) study this crisis as it happens, with historical background but using media and online sources as events unfold.
Will Britain "crash out" of the European Union with no deal, perhaps leading to economic chaos? Will Boris Johnson do a U-turn? Will there be an election, or even a second referendum on leaving? Will there be a new push for Scottish independence?
This course will have no final exam.
